Toddler Boy Fall Outfit: Weekend Stripes Look

The hat started as a joke. My husband bought it because it says BUBS on the front and that is what he has called our son since the hospital, and I assumed it would sit on the shelf by the door for a year collecting dust with the sunglasses nobody wears. Instead it became the one thing my son puts on without being asked.
He does it himself now. Grabs the brim with both hands, jams it down until it covers his eyebrows, then tilts his head back so he can still see where he is going. It is crooked every single time. I have stopped fixing it.
Saturday mornings are our errand runs, which sounds more organized than it is. Hardware store, then the grocery store, then usually a stop at the gas station because someone needs a snack. Getting him dressed for that used to be the slowest part of the whole morning, because jeans mean buttons and buttons mean a floor situation.
The striped pants solved that. Soft drawstring waist, wide enough leg that he can get both feet through while sitting on the bottom stair, and no snap he has to line up. He pulls them on, gets the tee over his head with one arm through the neck hole, and I fix that part while he is already reaching for the hat.
Last weekend a woman in the checkout line asked if he picked out his own outfit. He did pick the hat. The rest was me, but I am letting him have that one.

Common questions
- What's a comfortable weekend outfit for a toddler boy in fall?
- A soft pocket tee, pull-on pants with a drawstring instead of a button, and sneakers he can walk all morning in. Add a light jacket or a flannel over the tee once it drops below sixty, and swap the tee for a long sleeve on the coldest days.
- Are pull-on striped pants good for a toddler still working on getting dressed himself?
- They are one of the easiest pieces to hand a toddler. There is no button to line up and no zipper to catch, so he can sit down, get both feet in, and pull. The drawstring stays tied and just keeps the waist from sliding once he is running.
- Where can I get an affordable trucker hat for a toddler?
- Amazon has plenty of toddler-sized trucker caps with adjustable snapbacks in the fifteen to twenty-five dollar range. Look for a structured crown so it holds its shape, and an adjustable back so it grows with him for a couple of seasons.
The hat is still crooked. He wore this whole thing three times last week and I only had to wash the pants once.
