I love Halloween, but I don't love how fast a house can go full orange-and-black theme park. This year I'm keeping our decor soft and neutral so it actually looks like it belongs in our living room the other eleven months of the year too. Here are the five pieces I'm using to get that look without losing the spooky.

  1. Ghost string lights with little witch hats, glowing softly in a row.

    Ghost String Lights

Works as porch lighting or draped along a mantel without looking like it came from a costume store.

  2. Felt bat and wooden bead garland draped across a white fireplace mantel.

    Felt Bat Garland

Drapes over a mantel or doorway for an instant seasonal touch that still feels boho, not costume-y.

  3. Two terracotta pumpkin tealight holders with carved jack-o'-lantern faces and lit candles.

    Terracotta Tealight Holders

The warm terracotta tone carries the whole tablescape without a single orange pumpkin in sight.

  4. A set of black 3D bat wall stickers in assorted sizes on a white background.

    3D Bat Wall Stickers

An easy accent wall that peels right off in November, no commitment required.

  5. Cream pillow covers with plush little ghosts on a dark couch.

    Ghost Pillow Covers

Slips right over the pillows you already have and carries the look onto the couch.

Grab whichever pieces fit your space, you don't need all five to make it feel seasonal.

Common questions

Will these Halloween pieces still work for regular fall decor after Halloween?
Yes. The pillow covers, bat garland, and tealight holders all skew more “cozy fall” than “trick or treat,” so most of them can stay out through Thanksgiving.
Do I need all five items to pull off the look?
No. Start with the pillow covers and tealight holders if you want the easiest, lowest-commitment version, then add the lights, garland, or wall stickers if you want more.
What size room does this work best in?
Small apartments and full living rooms alike. Everything here layers onto furniture and shelves you already have rather than needing dedicated space.
