Fall is the one season where I actually sit still with a book instead of scrolling for twenty minutes and calling it rest. Something about the shorter days makes me want a blanket, something warm to drink, and a book that matches the mood, whether that's cozy and easy or a little darker and slower.

This is the stack I'm working through this year, one pick for a few different moods depending on the night.

  1. Book cover of The Pumpkin Spice Café by Laurie Gilmore, showing a cozy coffee shop storefront with pumpkins and autumn leaves.

A cozy small-town romance about a coffee shop and a grump-meets-sunshine pairing, the kind of book that goes down easy on a slow night.

  2. Book cover of The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna, showing a witch in a yellow dress above a house on a dark blue night background.

  3. Book cover of The Secret History by Donna Tartt, with minimalist type over a marbled cream background.

Is this list all romance?
No, it mixes cozy romance, witchy fantasy, dark academia, and mystery so there's something for a few different moods.
